Gizem Aksu is graduated from the Department of Political Science & International Relations, Bogazici University and the Department of Contemporary Dance, Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University with honor degrees. She continues post-graduate education in this department and is giving seminars on repertoire.
Her articles & interviews have been published on several journals on Internet. She has opportunities to work with renowned choreographers & directors; Aakash Odedra (UK), Ann Van den Broek (BE), Aydın Teker (TR), Brooke O’ Harra (US), Malin Arnell (SE), Marc Vanruxt (BE), Sharon Hayes(US), Tijen Lawton (BE), Tuğçe Tuna (TR).
Guro Leppord documented her dancer being in “The Second Sex” and she was invited to SPARK Snapshots from Istanbul's Art Scene by Cengiz Tanç. She also played in internationally awarded film “Belonging” by Serkan Ertekin. She was invited by Transcultures/Park in Progress Residency in Mons to create (e)scape! And she performed in Mons’ta Nuit Européenne de la Jeune Création. Its workshop version was realized in Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space 2015. In the summer of 2015, the artist has participated in ImPulsTanz-Vienna International Dance Festival with the support of danceWEB fellowship.
Recently, she is working with Aydın Teker (TR) for Hallo! and Aakash Odedra Company (UK) for the new research and giving the workshops “How the Landscape My Body is?” and “Daily Rituals for Rebellion”.
